Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Lusis, a private location-sharing app operated by STODR LLC, a Washington State (USA) limited liability company ("STODR", "we", "us", "our", "the operator"). By using Lusis you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

Plain-English summary

• Lusis is for private use between people who've agreed to share their location with each other. Don't use it to stalk or monitor someone without their consent. Only add people to your circle who have agreed to share their location with you.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use Lusis. If you're under 18 you should have a parent or guardian's permission.
• Lusis is not for emergencies. If you have an emergency, call your local emergency number (112 / 911). Location data can be delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable, and we cannot guarantee anyone will see it in time.
• You own your data. You can delete your account at any time and we will wipe everything.
• You're responsible for your account. Don't share your password. Tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
• We can terminate abusive accounts. If you use Lusis to harass or track someone without consent, we will close your account.

1. Who we are

Lusis is operated by STODR LLC, a limited liability company registered in Washington State, USA. For anything in these terms, "we" / "us" / "the operator" refers to STODR LLC.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Lusis. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian's permission to use Lusis and to share your location with members of your shared circle.

You must also be legally able to enter into contracts in your country of residence.

3. Your account

When you create an account, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information (email, display name)
• Keep your password confidential and not share it with anyone
• Be responsible for all activity on your account
• Notify us promptly at hello@stodr.com if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else

You may only create one account per person.

4. Shared circles and location sharing

Lusis is a private location-sharing app. The core feature is opt-in:

• You create or join a shared circle by entering an invite code
• Each member of the circle can see the live location of every other member who has location sharing enabled
• You can toggle your location sharing on and off at any time in Settings
• You can leave a circle at any time

By inviting someone to your circle or sharing your location with them, you represent that they have consented to share their location with you in return. Do not use Lusis to track anyone — including your partner, your children, or a friend — without their knowledge and agreement. Using Lusis to surveil someone without consent is a violation of these terms and, in many jurisdictions, a criminal offense.

Lusis is not designed for tracking children under 13 and has no parental-controls mode. All users of Lusis, including children, must meet the minimum-age requirement in section 2.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Lusis is transitioning to a subscription model to cover operating costs. During the current beta period, some users have free access via a beta access code. Once subscriptions go live:

• Subscriptions will be billed through Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS, when released)
• The current planned price is $1.99 per month — this is subject to change before launch
• You can cancel at any time through your Google Play or App Store account
• Canceling will end your access to Lusis at the end of the current billing period
• Refunds are handled per Google Play's and Apple's standard refund policies

Beta access codes, when used, grant access for the duration specified on each code. We may end the beta period at any time and require active users to subscribe to continue using Lusis, with reasonable notice.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Lusis to:

• Harass, stalk, threaten, or intimidate anyone
• Track anyone without their informed consent
• Infringe anyone's legal rights, including privacy rights
• Violate any law or regulation
• Circumvent technical limits in the app, reverse engineer the app, or attempt to access parts of the service that are not intended for users
• Introduce malware, scraping tools, or automated clients
• Create accounts by automated means or for fraudulent purposes
• Use the service in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our infrastructure

If you violate these rules we may, at our discretion, suspend or terminate your account without notice and without refund.

7. Your content

Lusis lets you share content with members of your shared circle: your display name, your optional profile photo, your check-in messages, saved places, and your location.

• You own your content. You retain all rights to anything you upload or share.
• You grant us a license to display it. Solely to operate Lusis, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit your content to members of your shared circle. This license ends when you delete the content or delete your account.
• You are responsible for your content. Don't share anything you don't have the right to share, or anything that violates section 6.

8. Intellectual property

The Lusis app, its name, its lynx logo, and all associated branding and code are owned by STODR LLC. You may not reproduce, modify, or create derivative works of the app without our written permission. These terms don't grant you any license to our trademarks.

Open-source components of Lusis are licensed under their respective licenses. See the app's about page (coming soon) for attributions.

9. Termination

You can terminate your account at any time by emailing privacy@stodr.com from your account's email address with the subject "Delete my Lusis account". We will delete your account and all associated data within 7 days and confirm when it's done.

We can terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, particularly section 6 (acceptable use). We will notify you by email when we do, unless doing so would expose us to legal liability or make a serious violation worse.

After termination, these terms still apply to any disputes that arose before termination.

10. Disclaimers

Lusis is provided "as is" and "as available". We do our best to keep the service running and accurate, but we can't promise:

• The service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Location data will always be delivered, accurate, or timely
• The service will be free from vulnerabilities or bugs
• Any specific result from using the service

Lusis is not an emergency service. Do not rely on Lusis to reach someone in an emergency. If you have an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US, 112 in the EU, etc.). We are not liable for any harm resulting from delayed, missing, or inaccurate location data in an emergency situation.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, STODR LLC's total liability for any claim arising out of your use of Lusis is limited to the amount you paid to us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose, or USD $50, whichever is greater.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of Washington State or your country of residence (where you are an EU or UK consumer).

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or to your use of Lusis will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in King County, Washington, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

EU, UK, and Swiss consumer exception: if you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the consumer protection law in your country of residence. Nothing in this clause takes those rights away. You may bring a dispute in the courts of your country of residence.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If the changes are material, we will notify you by email or through the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of Lusis after the changes take effect means you accept the new terms. If you don't accept them, you can delete your account before they take effect.

14. Miscellaneous

• Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding Lusis. They replace any prior agreements.
• No waiver. If we don't enforce a right under these terms, that doesn't mean we waive it.
• Severability. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the terms still apply.
• Assignment. You may not assign these terms. We may assign them to an acquirer or successor of STODR LLC, provided that the acquirer accepts the privacy commitments in our Privacy Policy.
